Welsh Garage Harnesses the Power of its Website to Grow Business

GotBoost, an independent garage in Bridgend, Wales, is continuing to secure its position in the sector as the go-to garage for performance vehicle tuning.

The garage, which also has a reputation for difficult diagnostic work and fixing cars that ‘can’t be fixed’, is also attracting work from overseas.

It has just received an enquiry from the Middle East to repair the fuel injection system on a retro 1991 Mercedes W126 420 SEL. After contacting GotBoost via its website, the vehicle owner is now planning to ship the fuel injection system to the garage’s workshop in Wales.

GotBoost, which is a K-Jet specialist, will test and carry out adjustments and repairs to the system, before returning it to the Middle East to be refitted in the vehicle.

Andy Crook, GotBoost’s technical director explained: “Whilst this isn’t the sort of job we work on every day, it’s not unusual for customers to travel far and wide to bring their vehicles to us.

“That’s the power of our website. We reach customers we could never have dreamed of.

“We do general repairs and services like most garages, but our specialism is tuned vehicles; this stems from the business’ racing heritage.

“These customers do seem to have a different mindset. They want a specialist working on their vehicle, regardless of whether it needs difficult diagnostic work or a bulb replacement. Once they find a garage they trust, they’re prepared to travel.

“From a marketing point of view, this means we need to be really visible online. They must be able to find our name and the specialist solutions we offer amongst the online noise.

“And whilst I know the basics of how to build a website, I’m no expert on making sure it can be found – that’s a whole different game!”

Andy appointed garage website specialist Garage Services Online, and in July 2022 GotBoost’s new website went live. In the first week, the garage received eight phone calls directly from its website’s home page.

Since then, email enquiries have increased by an average of 29 per cent and its customer reach has widened.

Andy continued: “What I really love about the website is that we can continually change what we want to be found for in an online search. I can literally fine-tune it like an engine.

“It’s the mothership of all our marketing activity and plays a major part in our business’ success.

“To get the best results from a website, you need to work with Garage Services Online. Our secret is to simply let them do what they’re specialists at, so we can do what we’re specialists at.”

George Phillips, operations director at Garage Services Online said: “It’s great working with Andy. He truly embraces the full power of his website’s capabilities and in return, it’s delivering exactly the customers he wants.”
