Garages not getting full benefit from garage management systems

Garage Services Online, the leading website provider to independent garages, says only 10 per cent of its customer members are taking advantage of the online booking calendar widgets available via their garage management systems (GMS).

With most people now booking everything online, from their Friday night takeaways to summer holidays, George Phillips, Garage Services Online’s director of operations, says workshops need to make life as easy as possible for vehicle owners – and this means embracing online bookings.

He said: “We all expect to be able to search and book things online and vehicle services are no exception. Especially if it’s for something straightforward like an MOT or routine service.

“Yet, even with our forward-thinking garage members, less than 10 per cent have utilised the booking calendar widget that’s usually available as part of their garage management system.

“So, we’re on a mission to change that! We want to raise awareness that if garages have the calendar facility within their garage management system, we can plug it into their website.”

Whilst there are many variations in the functionality of garage management systems, most have some form of widget designed to at least facilitate a calendar enquiry.

George continued: “We can add these onto our customers’ websites quite easily, the integration is quick and seamless.

“It makes perfect sense for garages to give their customers the option to get in touch any way they want. Whether that’s by phone, email or booking online.

“And, by integrating a booking widget into one of our websites, garages can make life as easy as possible for their customers – and make their workshop more efficient.”
